We worked on late/missing work while listening to the audio book of our novel. Then we made zombie masks to along with tomorrow's assignment. Today in class . . . We took guided notes on conflict and theme and practiced identifying and explaining them in our class novel. The guided notes and practice assignment are attached below.
Today in class . . . We previewed all of the skills and concepts that we are going to cover during the upcoming unit. We rated our current abilities in these areas and wrote SMART goals to the upcoming unit. The self-evaluation is attached below.

We finished the assignment we started reading yesterday and continued reading chapter #7 of our book. Today in class . . . We took guided notes on characterization and began working on the attached assignment. It will be due tomorrow at the end of class. I also passes out grade sheets warning students that all missing/late work is due next Wednesday.
Today in class . . . We competed, as table groups, to use prefixes and suffixes in words. The teams that earned the most points were awarded extra credit. The assignment that we filled out during this game is attached below.

We took notes on root words, affixes, prefixes, and suffixes. Then we practices affixing prefixes and suffixes to common root words. Finally, we identified the elements of words as we read chapter #5 in our class novel. Today in class . . .
We polished and turned in our final drafts. Students also answered some reflection questions. All of this was done through google classroom. Today in class . . . We finished drafting our Junior High Adventures, and then we evaluated a peers story using the document attached below. If you were absent, you can have someone use the document to evaluate you work and turn it in to receive credit.

We started drafting our Letter to the Editor. Students will need all of the directions and resources posted on google classroom in order to complete the assignment. We learned about two ways to make our narrative writing more engaging. We identified when our author used these as we finished reading chapter 4 of our class novel. Students who were absent will need to copy the notes from a friend or neighbor. Today in class . . .
We used the laptops in class to go over the project requirements for our upcoming Junior High Adventure writing project. We also read Ms. Norr's example and filled out a project proposal. All of these documents are available on google classroom. Students received an email from Ms. Norr about the assignment, and that email contains the link. Today in class . . .
We took our types of sentences quiz. Students who were absent will need to take the quiz online. I sent an email to your student email with your classes link out today, so check your email. You can also find the link on our google classroom page. Just sign in and it will be the top assignment there. |
