We read through chapter #15 in our book. Then we practiced writing pronouns in all of the cases. Using the pronoun chart picture below, students wrote 12 sentences. They needed to label the pronouns they used and use each case 3 times. Today in class . . .

We took our self starter quiz, corrected it, and read. Today in class . . . Students read the short story "Duffy's Jacket" together in groups. Then they filled out a detailed plot diagram individually. The story and diagram are attached below.

We reviewed the 4 types of conflicts. Then, we identified one of each type of conflict in our own lives. (This assignment was on the back of the Conflict Notes that we filled out on Thursday. Afterwards, we read about Jonas's first day of training. Today in class . . .
We played a review game for the first half of class. Afterwards, we quickly took our adverbs quiz. Today in class . . . We filled out guided notes about different types of conflicts that happen in novels. Then we read most of chapter #9. We will finish the back of the guided notes tomorrow.
Today in class . . . Students filled out guided notes on the elements of plot. Then we read a picture book and practiced filling out a plot diagram. In groups, students read and filled out a plot diagram independently.

Students were given their assignments. After determine which types of careers they were most suited for. Students were randomly assignment a career. We also read chapter 6. We will be using our career assignment later in class. If you missed, you will need to talk to Ms. Norr to get an assignment. |
